TORQUE Issue 01 — Where Torque Meets Thrust brings twelve motors, actuators and thrusters onto one stage: robot-joint actuators, gimbal motors, underwater thrusters and UAV propulsion, every figure traced to official manufacturer data.
In This Issue
- Editor's Note — Choosing Without Guesswork: why this journal starts from data, not from marketing lines.
- Editor's Picks — Six Motors Worth a Closer Look: CubeMars AK80-6, AKE90-8 and GL60 II on the actuator and gimbal side; CubeMars DW25, T-Motor U8 Lite and T-Hobby F90 for propulsion in water and air.
- Spec Comparison — Three U15 Motors for Manned-Class Lift: T-Motor U15 II, U15 XL and U15 XXL on one page, thrust and power read side by side.
- Application Spotlight — Propulsion for Inspection UAVs: what part-throttle efficiency and position hold demand from a motor.
- Engineering Note — Rated Torque vs Peak Torque: the most common datasheet misreading in actuator selection, and how to avoid it.
- Discover ToBMS — Find, Filter and Compare in Four Steps: a worked example of shortlisting a UAV motor on the site.
Every Number, Traced
Each specification printed in this issue comes from the manufacturer's own page or datasheet, is cross-checked against the ToBMS product record, and is re-verified before publication. Where a figure is a peak value with a time limit — 180 s or 60 s — the limit is printed next to the number. Where a manufacturer publishes thrust in grams, the figure appears converted to kilograms-force (kgf) with the source value on file.
The issue reads in about ten minutes. The PDF is free to download, keep and share.
Units and Sources
Thrust figures in this issue are printed in kilograms-force (kgf). Where a manufacturer publishes thrust in gram-force (gf), the figure is converted to kgf at 1000 gf = 1 kgf, with the source value kept on file. Torque is printed in Nm and power in watts, with the test window (180 s, 60 s or continuous) stated wherever the manufacturer states one. Every specification was checked against the linked manufacturer publication in September 2026.
About TORQUE
TORQUE is the standing journal of ToBMS — one issue at a time, each with a number and a theme. Issue 01, Where Torque Meets Thrust, puts actuators and propulsion motors on the same bench, because the discipline of reading a datasheet does not change with the application. Every issue stays free to read online and to download as a PDF.
